The Pool
Our climate-controlled facility is equipped with an 8’ X 20’ heated pool with six whirlpool jets which provide a gentle massaging action to the muscles and joints. There are also two oversized jets that control the flow of the water, which are adjustable for both flow rate and direction of current.
Our pool is equipped with a ramp and safety railings for easy and safe access. The pool is designed with benches along the sides for dogs to rest in between laps. We also provide flotation vests for first time, inexperienced or physically challenged swimmers.
AquaDog’s pool is equipped with a sophisticated filtration system that uses a natural water treatment to handle the extra challenges that our furry friends present. AquaDog does not use chlorine or any other harsh or toxic chemicals that may cause possible health risks, allergies, skin irritation, eye redness or unpleasant odors.
A highly advanced ozone based system is used to keep the water soft, clean, clear and safe for dogs.
AquaDog's Inspiration
Pam Tewes, founder of AquaDog, Inc., has surrounded herself with animals from the time she was a young girl . At any given time she would find herself living among dogs, cats, birds, turtles and any other animals she may have found along the way.
But it was adopting and training her own dog, Luke (pictured above) which led Pam down the path to a life committed to serve, help, and train animals.
Luke suffers from severe osteoarthritis as well as hip dysplasia. Luke's veterinarian recommended swimming three times a week. Pam quickly realized how difficult it was to find a place to swim on a regular basis in the Greater Boston area that was legal, clean and safe. Managing this pain, as well as providing the best quality of life became challenging. Their journey toward seeking a happier and pain free life inspired Pam to pursue studying the natural healing process, which led her to founding AquaDog, Inc.
Pam is a Certified Canine Swim Specialist and studied under the instruction of Cindy Horsfall of La Paw Spa. Cindy is one of the most respected hydrotherapy specialists in the United States and is nationally recognized as the pioneer of warm water therapy for dogs.
Pam is certified in canine massage and a graduate of PetMassage Training and Research Institute in Toledo, Ohio. She is a Certified Reiki Practitioner for people and pets. She also participates in many continuing education courses and has received certificate of completion in Traditional Acupressure for small animals with Amy Snow of Tallgrass Institute of Colorado. She is also certified in Pet First Aid/ CPR with the American Red Cross. Pam believes she can never stop learning about her passion of helping animals lead a healthy and balanced life, and plans to continue her education in animal nutrition and behavior.
Pam has volunteered at various local animal shelter and rescue groups, and is committed to each and every dog finding a home they deserve, and having a full and healthy life.
Pam and Luke are registered with the Massachusetts Chapter of Delta Society, as an Assisted Therapy Team, and provide many hours of service visiting nursing homes, hospitals, as well as schools throughout the Boston area.
Pam is a member of the International Association of Animal Massage and Bodywork (IAAMB), as well as the Association of Canine Water Therapy.
